PLH design was established in 1992 as a division of PLH architects in Copenhagen, Denmark. PLH design has developed lighting, office furniture, signage systems, and sanitary fixtures, as well as road ahdnhighway equipment. Products are developed in response to general building sector demands, with a view to wide expansion to the professional and private markets.

The PLH hand was designed in 2003 in response to the need for a simple, organic form with tactile appeal. The handle has a comfortable grip with a natural indentation/thumb support.
